Job Description As the Assistant Controller, you will report into the senior finance leadership team and play a critical role partnering with operations to enhance project performance and financial control. Partner closely with project teams to deliver accurate project-level financial reporting Manage job cost tracking, work-in-progress reporting, and revenue recognition Support forecasting, budgeting, and profitability analysis across live projects Prepare and maintain schedules of contracts, billings, and accruals Lead cost and revenue review processes to ensure accuracy and compliance Support internal and external audit processes, including interaction with third-party auditors Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes, controls, and systems MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state, or local law. The Successful Applicant For the Assistant Controller role, we are seeking: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field Must have 2-4 years of audit experience within a Big 4, Top 10, or leading regional firm Prior exposure to construction, infrastructure, or project-based environments is highly preferred Strong understanding of job cost accounting and percentage of completion methods Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to engage operational stakeholders Experience with construction ERP systems (e.g. Vista, Procore, or similar) is advantageous CPA qualification or progression towards certification is a plus Ambition to progress into Controller and beyond within a structured succession plan What's on Offer Competitive salary Performance-based bonus scheme 401(k) with employer match and comprehensive benefits package High visibility role with direct interaction across finance and operations Clear progression path to Controller and future executive leadership Opportunity to be part of a stable, family-owned business with long-term growth plans This is a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Controller in Houston, TX, to advance their career within the property industry.
