Job Description

We are looking for a Controller who is a self-starter and HIGHLY motivated with the ability to thrive in an ever-changing environment and collaborate with a company of talented, motivated individuals. The Controller is a team player and key leader with a long-term, career-minded approach to daily responsibilities. Manufacturing experience preferred. This is an ONSITE position. The Controller, while working under the direction of the President and Global CFO, will be responsible for managing multiple aspects of the accounting operations of the company, including planning, directing, general accounting, cost accounting and internal controls ensuring proper accounting procedures have been followed. The role also owns the monthly financial reporting and variance analysis, ad hoc reporting, investigating discrepancies, budgeting and forecast projections. The Controller position is instrumental in achieving fiscal goals and a key member of the leadership team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to , Provides the cost accounting expertise for the manufacturing operations. Ensures appropriate internal controls are in place and supports effective and efficient annual fiscal audits. Works closely with manufacturing operations to ensure accurate and timely capture of all production costs and effective analysis of production variances. Develops, monitors, and analyzes manufacturing overhead allocation and burden rates to ensure appropriateness. Prepare, review, and distribute monthly financial reports to President and Global CFO. Tracks expenses and revenues versus budget and reforecast and analyze fluctuations. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial package. Responsible for overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable processing. Ownership of the inventory sub-ledger. Daily management of the company's bank accounts, and coordinate cash flow with Global CFO. Prepares annual financial information for external auditors. Liaison for all annual audits and tax preparation from CPA Firm. Leads in the budget and reforecast process recommending actions/interventions. Maintains budget and reforecast information. Coordinates accounting documentation requirements with suppliers, brokers, vessels, etc. Determines cost of operations by establishing standard costs and collecting operational data. Provides financial and analytical support for incentive compensation management, semi-annual incentive compensation payments. Develops, maintains, and distributes ad-hoc reports and financial models, as needed. Responsible for monthly general ledger accounting and reconciliation. Process all work to meet metrics/KPIs. Supervisory Responsibilities Identify and propose best practices and improvement to organization, management, and Accounting Department. Oversees the operations and personnel management of the Accounting Department, which include cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations. Oversees training programs and identifies training needs with direct reports. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Four-year bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required. Seven years or more of related Controller experience required. Manufacturing experience preferred. Certified Public Accountant is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Work, Outlook). Strong judgment and decision making. Proficient in QuickBooks. Strong work ethic and positive attitude. Long-term career minded individual. Physical Demands and Work Environment Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times. Occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities. Travel Some travel to and from company locations.
