Job DescriptionJob Description About the Opportunity Our client, a well-established heavy civil contractor, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the financial operations of their construction business. This role is critical for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strategic planning for large-scale projects valued at $10 million and above . Key Responsibilities Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control for construction projects. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in compliance with GAAP. Monitor project cash flow, job cost analysis, and variance reporting. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets. Collaborate with project managers and executives to provide financial insights and recommendations. Supervise accounting staff and ensure timely processing of accounts payable, receivable, and payroll. Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors and financial institutions. Support strategic planning and growth initiatives through financial modeling and analysis.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 7 years in financial management, with at least 3 years in construction or heavy civil industry. Strong knowledge of job cost accounting and WIP (Work in Progress) reporting. Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE) and ERP systems. Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial modeling. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Background Experience managing financial operations for projects $10M+ . Familiarity with DOT compliance and multi-state tax regulations. Candidates from reputable heavy civil or general contractors are highly regarded. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary range: $130K-$160K+ (commensurate with experience). Health, dental, and vision insurance. 401(k) plan with company match.
