  • $135,000 DOE Snelling Staffing is actively recruiting for a Controller on behalf of a well-established and growing organization in the heavy civil construction industry.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls, with a strong emphasis on job cost accounting and project-based financial analysis. If you are a hands-on accounting leader with experience in construction finance, ERP systems, and team leadership, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a strategic role with visibility across the organization. ________________________________________
POSITION SUMMARY
The Controller will lead the company's financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and actionable financial insights. This role partners closely with leadership to support profitability analysis, cost control, and operational decision-making in a project-driven environment. ________________________________________
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • L ead monthly close process, ensuring accuracy of financial statements and general ledger
  • Oversee job cost accounting and project-level financial reporting
  • Analyze financial performance, including profitability, cost trends, and asset utilization
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff; manage daily accounting workflows
  • Approve purchase orders, invoices, and financial transactions
  • Manage bank reconciliations and ensure financial data integrity
  • Coordinate with external auditors and support audit processes
  • Leverage ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Foundation, or similar) to drive reporting accuracy and efficiency
  • Provide leadership with timely, data-driven financial insights to support strategic decisions ________________________________________
QUALIFICATIONS
  • B achelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within construction or project-based environments
  • Proven experience overseeing accounting teams and financial operations
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, contract accounting, and financial reporting
  • Experience with construction ERP systems such as Sage 300, Foundation, or similar
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining precision ________________________________________
