Full Job Description Controller Salary Range:
$100,000 - $130,000 annually Position Summary We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and results-driven Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the fuel, transportation, energy, logistics, or related industries , with expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and operational accounting. Experience with SAGE accounting software is highly preferred. This role will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, driving process improvements, and providing strategic financial guidance to support business growth. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics. Analyze financial results and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency. Oversee fuel inventory accounting, procurement cost tracking, and related financial reporting. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations and reporting requirements. Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures. Coordinate and lead internal and external audits. Partner with executive leadership to support strategic planning and business decision-making. Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and financial risk management. Drive process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation preferred. Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience. Prior experience in the fuel industry, transportation, energy, logistics, or a similar operational environment strongly preferred. Advanced knowledge of
SAGE 100, SAGE
300, or SAGE Intacct . Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial modeling. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
