This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced nonprofit accounting professional—or a strong Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller ready for their first Controller role—to shape the future of a well‑established organization. This search is moving quickly. Why This Role Is Exceptional High‑visibility leadership position with the autonomy to modernize and elevate the accounting function during a milestone centennial year Close partnership with the COO, CFO, and executive team to drive process improvements and strengthen financial operations Clear succession path—this role is positioned for future advancement to CFO Direct influence in a mission‑focused nonprofit dedicated to education and community enrichment Opportunity to mentor, develop, and inspire a committed team aligned with the organization's purpose Robust benefits package including substantial employer‑paid medical coverage, company‑paid life insurance, dental/vision options Three weeks of vacation, ten paid holidays, monthly sick leave accrual, 401(k) with 4% match, and EAP Executive exposure and the chance to shape organizational transformation, including future systems and process automation initiatives Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee all accounting and finance operations, ensuring accuracy across full‑cycle and fund accounting Manage budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting, audit preparation, and compliance activities Supervise the AP, AR, and revenue recognition functions while supporting staff development and performance Oversee fund accounting, including donor intent, endowments, and deferred revenue, while continuously improving financial systems and reporting capabilities Manage payroll and collaborate with HR to streamline and enhance related processes Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibility, ideally in nonprofit or fund accounting Advanced user of Excel and demonstrated experience with accounting/ERP systems (preference for Blackbaud Financial Edge) Track record of process improvement, budgeting, and audit readiness in a mission-oriented organization #LI-JM4#Nonprofit #Accounting #Accountant #Accountingjobs #
