Assistant Controller

Job DescriptionJob Description Our client is a growing manufacturing organization looking to identify a highly motivated Assistant Controller . This role will play a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting operational and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate brings a mix of technical accounting expertise, leadership capability, and hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Support accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP and company policies Assist in driving efficient month-end and year-end close processes Oversee daily accounting operations, including: General Ledger (GL) Accounts Payable (AP) Accounts Receivable (AR) Payroll Revenue recognition Maintain and strengthen internal controls and compliance efforts Support audit processes (internal and external) Partner with leadership to provide financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis Monitor and improve working capital, inventory management, and asset utilization Assist with cash management and liquidity planning Supervise and mentor Accounting staff , ensuring alignment with operational goals Leverage ERP systems to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency (D365 experience a plus) Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required) CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred 5-7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience , preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments Strong knowledge of: Financial reporting Internal controls Month-end close processes GL, AP, AR, payroll Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus) Proven experience supporting or leading audit processes Exposure to team leadership or supervisory responsibilities Skills & Competencies Strong financial analysis and planning capabilities High attention to detail with strong organizational skills Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and collaboration skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite Company DescriptionThe Specialized Recruiting Group (part of Express Employment Professionals) office in Tyler, TX offers a tailored approach to professional placement, delivering personalized service that matches the unique needs of both companies and talented candidates.
