Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller! In this role, you will take on critical financial responsibilities, including grant reconciliation, budget analysis, and reporting. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with strong accounting expertise and advanced Excel skills to contribute to a dynamic academic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee grant reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare detailed financial reports and assist in the development of annual budgets.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
- Research and resolve complex journal entry issues as they arise.
- Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions to maintain financial accuracy.
- Audit financial records and transactions to ensure adherence to established policies.
- Handle billing functions and ensure timely processing of invoices.
- Collaborate on regulatory reporting requirements, including those related to government compliance.
- Provide support for ad-hoc financial projects and requests as needed. Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of detail-oriented accounting experience, preferably within higher education.
- Proficiency in grant accounting and financial reporting.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and data analysis.
- Familiarity with accounting software systems and their functionalities.
- Experience managing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.
- Strong understanding of auditing practices and principles.
- Knowledge of government regulatory reporting is highly desirable.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
