Job Description

We are looking for a Controller to support financial operations for an affordable housing environment in White River Junction, Vermont. This is a Contract position suited for an individual who can combine strong accounting expertise with accurate document management and compliance support. The role will focus on maintaining organized financial records, reconciling accounts, and helping ensure grant- and HUD-related documentation meets reporting standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records in alignment with GAAP principles.
  • Perform account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve variances to support reliable financial reporting.
  • Organize, compile, and maintain financial and compliance documentation for audits, reporting needs, and internal review.
  • Scan and index business records to ensure documents are accessible, complete, and properly retained.
  • Support financial administration related to HUD programs, federal grants, and other government-funded housing initiatives.
  • Prepare and review reports tied to affordable housing programs, ensuring documentation is complete and submission-ready.
  • Monitor document control practices to promote consistency, accuracy, and adherence to recordkeeping requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather supporting materials and keep financial files current and well organized.
