Job Description

CONTROLLER POSITION SUMMARY
Propeller Aero Services is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations for our full-service Fixed Base Operator (FBO) at Paine Field. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the Company's financial reporting while developing a thorough understanding of the operational drivers behind the business, including fuel inventory management, aircraft services, customer billing, vendor management, equipment leasing, and other key revenue streams. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable reviewing financial statements, reconciling inventory, strengthening internal controls, improving accounting processes, and partnering with operational leadership to understand how financial activity flows through the business. This is a highly visible role requiring strong accounting expertise, sound business judgment, and the ability to identify and solve process issues across departments. Success in this role requires developing a comprehensive understanding of the business and working closely with operational leadership to ensure that accounting records accurately reflect operational activity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and manage all accounting and financial operations for Propeller Aero Services. Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Prepare and oversee the timely production of accurate financial statements and management reporting packages. Manage the accumulation, reconciliation, and consolidation of financial data necessary for accurate financial reporting. Develop, implement, and maintain strong accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Coordinate and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial consultants. Manage annual budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis activities. Provide management with timely and accurate financial information to support business decision-making. Develop and monitor key financial and operational performance metrics. Evaluate existing accounting processes and systems and implement improvements where appropriate. Ensure compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements, tax filings, and accounting standards. Lead month-end balance sheet reconciliations and review significant journal entries. Develop and maintain accurate inventory accounting and reconciliation processes. Ensure accurate accounting treatment of fuel inventory, equipment leasing activities, customer billing, and other operational transactions. Partner with operational leadership to understand, document, and improve business processes that impact financial reporting. Identify control weaknesses, process gaps, and operational inefficiencies and implement corrective actions. Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software, reporting systems, and supporting databases. Support strategic initiatives, growth opportunities, and other special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required. CPA designation strongly preferred. Minimum seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Prior experience leading month-end close, financial statement preparation, and audit coordination. Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control frameworks. Experience developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures. Strong inventory accounting experience required. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems. Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Aviation, FBO, transportation, logistics, fuel distribution, or other inventory intensive industry experience. Experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, or privately held business environment. Experience implementing process improvements and strengthening internal controls.

Pay:
$130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
