Job Description

A privately held, growth-focused organization is looking for a Controller who will become a key financial leader and trusted advisor to executive management. In this role, you will oversee all core accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, and provide the insights that help shape strategic decisions.
POSITION SUMMARY
As Controller, you will own the financial heartbeat of the organization. You'll maintain the integrity of the general ledger, oversee all financial transactions, and ensure the company has a clear, accurate view of its financial position. You'll partner closely with senior leadership, helping evaluate performance, guiding budgeting and forecasting, and influencing the company's financial strategy.

  • Starting salary: $90,000 - $130,000, depending on your experience

WHAT YOU BRING
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • You bring 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including: accounts payable and receivable, payroll administration, general ledger maintenance and reconciliations
  • You have 3+ years of accounting leadership experience including managing staff
  • You've prepared and analyzed financial statements
  • You're comfortable working with accounting software or ERP systems
  • You've been involved in implementing new financial systems
WHAT SETS YOU APART

  • You hold a CPA, CMA, or similar certification
  • You've previously worked as a Controller or in a senior accounting leadership role
  • You understand project-based or job-cost accounting (construction, contracting, etc.)
  • You're familiar with project tracking or scheduling systems
  • You've supported strategic planning and financial modeling
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • You'll prepare monthly financial statements and present clear, actionable insights to leadership
  • You'll lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning across the organization
  • You'll oversee payroll processing, compliance, tax filings, and year-end reporting (W-2s/1099s)
  • You'll manage accounts payable, vendor payments, and corporate credit card activity
  • You'll oversee billing, project accounting, revenue recognition, and contract close-outs
  • You'll maintain general ledger accuracy, including journal entries, reconciliations, and fixed assets
  • You'll ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, coordinating with external partners as needed
  • You'll manage insurance programs and key vendor relationships
  • You'll support audits and provide ad hoc financial analysis
  • You'll take the lead on special projects that drive the business forward
  • You's oversee the yearly physical inventory and valuation.
