The Manufacturing Controller serves as a strategic finance leader, responsible for driving financial integrity, operational excellence, and data-driven decision-making across the organization. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Finance & Accounting, this position partners with senior leadership to shape financial strategy, optimize processes, and deliver actionable insights that support growth and innovation. The Manufacturing Controller leads day-to-day manufacturing finance operations for 5+ sites, including cost accounting, variance analysis, general accounting, fixed assets, and financial reporting. This role ensures robust internal controls, compliance, and integration of advanced analytics and technology to enhance financial performance visibility. This position will also play a key role in developing talent, fostering a culture of accountability, and aligning finance with organizational objectives. Key Responsibilities Partner with Finance and business leaders to develop and execute financial strategies that drive business performance and scalability. Govern integrity of standard costs & BOMs, monitor production variances, and analyze drivers of material, labor, and overhead trends. Oversee inventory valuation, accuracy, and cutoff procedures. Contribute to timely close cycles and prepare accurate financial statements, budgets, and forecasts. Leverage advanced analytics and business intelligence to provide actionable insights and predictive modeling for decision-making. Monitor manufacturing and distribution key performance indicators (KPIs) and deliver strategic recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency. Support capital investment business cases and conduct post-implementation performance reviews. Lead and mentor on a high-performing finance team, promoting continuous learning and professional growth. Ensure strong internal controls, risk management, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. Engage in and support external audit preparation. Drive process improvements through automation and digital tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Collaborate with IT to integrate systems and streamline cross-functional processes.Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance - CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.Experience:
5+ years in progressive finance and accounting roles, including leadership experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive organizational change. Strong cost accounting knowledge, variance analysis, and performance narratives. Advanced knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with automation and digital transformation initiatives. Experience with manufacturing system modules, such as bills of material (BOMs), machine routings, inventory, and production transactions. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into actionable insights. Adaptability in a fast-paced environment to support in other areas due to seasonality, projects, etc. Leadership Competencies Strategic thinker with a proactive, hands-on approach.
