About the Role Most Controller jobs hand you the playbook. This one asks you to build it. We are the largest Budget Blinds franchise in the country, 20 years in, 75+ employees, 5 offices across the Midwest, and still growing. Our majority owner is planning to retire over the next year, which means the Controller we hire now will own the finance function today and grow into a key leadership role as the business continues to scale. You will lead a small existing accounting team, work directly with ownership, and run the function out of our Verona office. What You Will Do Own the month-end close and deliver accurate, on-time financial statements Oversee a small existing accounting team (bookkeeper, AP) and grow it as the business expands Manage day-to-day accounting including AP, AR, payroll entries, and reconciliations Manage cash flow and banking relationships Build and maintain budgets, forecasts, and rolling financial projections Partner with ownership on pricing, margins, and strategic decisions Strengthen internal controls, processes, and documentation Work with outside CPAs on tax filings and year-end What We Need Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time in a senior or supervisory role CPA preferred, not required Strong QuickBooks or QuickBooks Online experience (required) Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills Paylocity or other payroll system exposure is a plus Comfort owning the function and communicating clearly with ownership Sharp eye for detail, clean work, and clear thinking Compensation and Benefits Base salary of $85,000 to $110,000, based on experience Three weeks of paid time off, prorated in the first year 8 paid holidays Health, dental, and vision insurance with partial employee contribution Company-paid short-term and long-term disability coverage IRA with up to 3% company match How to Apply Submit your resume.
