Underwriting Assistant UFP Industries, Inc medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, vision insurance, 401(k), employee discount United States, Michigan, Grand Rapids 2801 East Beltline Avenue Northeast (Show on map) Apr 28, 2026 Job Summary The Underwriting Assistant directly supports our Commercial P&C Underwriting team, by performing administrative and technical tasks that facilitate the evaluation, processing, and servicing of Excess & Surplus lines insurance policies. This role is essential in ensuring timely and accurate handling of submissions, endorsements, and policy documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities Submission Management:
Receive, log, and organize incoming submissions from brokers and agents. Ensure all required documentation is complete.
Tracking & Reporting:
Input and maintain accurate data in various systems including SharePoint, Excel, and others as needed.
Policy Processing:
Assist in the preparation, issuance, and delivery of quotes, binders, policies, and endorsements.
Communication:
Communicate with brokers, agents, and internal departments to gather information, clarify details, and follow up on outstanding items.
Document Management:
Maintain organized files for underwriting records and correspondence.
Compliance & Quality Control:
Review documents for completeness and accuracy before finalizing. Ensure all underwriting files meet internal compliance standards and guidelines.
Reporting:
Generate Excel reports and summaries for underwriters and management as needed.
Team Collaboration:
Provide general administrative support to the underwriting team and contribute to other insurance department projects and assignments as needed. Performs other similar duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate's degree, or equivalent work experience. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment, without sacrificing quality. Team player with commitment to excellent client service. Preferred Skills and experience Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively with strong attention to detail. Understanding of insurance regulations and underwriting guidelines.
