Job Description

Summary The MPA-Umbrella Underwriting Assistant performs initial account steps for the underwriting team. New applications for insurance are received via email; the Underwriting Assistant uses information from the application to log the account in our data entry system and perform initial account research. The Underwriting Assistant may correspond with insurance brokers to acquire necessary file information before routing the account to an underwriter for full review. The Underwriting Assistant also supports the underwriting team with other tasks when necessary, including handling minor insurance policy corrections and generating policy documents upon request. Insurance experience is not required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Performs initial new business account steps, including: a. Logging new accounts in data entry system using information from insurance application. b. Researching accounts using Google. c. Running a crime score using online tools. d. Corresponding via email with insurance brokers for account information when necessary. e. Clearing accounts with insurance company via automated process. 2. Ensures new submissions are logged and routed to an underwriter in a timely manner. 3. Handles non-premium-bearing policy corrections when requested by insurance broker. 4. Generates policy documents when requested by insurance broker. 5. Assists underwriting team with other tasks as needed. Job Metrics 1. Timeliness of logging new accounts. 2. Number of accounts logged, change requests handled, or loss runs generated each day. 3. Data entry accuracy. Necessary Skills 1. Time management. 2. Ability to follow department procedures while also adapting to 'odd' data entry scenarios when they occasionally arise. 3. Computer proficiency, including using Google Maps, Microsoft Outlook, and Adobe. 4. Knowledge of Microsoft Suites, with emphasis on Outlook and Excel. Travel is not required.

Full-time; 40 hours per week
Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 7:30 am - 4:00 pm daily (Flexible)
Work Setting:
Hybrid (At least two days in office per week).
