Job Description
Description Provides counseling to students and parents on all aspects of federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid while delivering exceptional customer service. Serves as the primary front-line representative and first point of contact for the office, assisting students in person and responding to phone and email inquiries. Responsible for verifying aid eligibility and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and institutional regulations. Participates in a minimum of 10 on and/or off-campus outreach events annually, including presentations that may occur during business hours, evenings, and weekends. Strong public speaking skills are required. Candidates must demonstrate excellent attention to detail and a high level of responsibility, reliability, and professionalism. Examples of Duties Counsel students and parents regarding the process of applying for and receiving Federal Financial Aid. Facilitate Appointments to assist students with Financial Aid Applications. Assist with the completion of Federal, State, and Institutional Aid Applications while maintaining student confidentiality. Participate in student recruitment and retention activities, including attending open-house events, information sessions, and other events as requested, to offer guidance to prospective students. Review processed financial aid applications, determine eligibility, and verify information with Federal Tax Returns. Provide information to the public concerning Financial Aid, scholarships, and other funding sources. Perform general office duties - data entry, correspondence, filing, mailings, and opening and sorting mail. Maintain daily reports related to eligibility, compliance, and program maintenance. Maintain compliance with Federal Regulations as mandated by the Department of Education. Support our Cambridge Satellite Center with Financial Aid Services. Award Federal Financial Aid to eligible students. Assist with reconciliation of federal aid programs. Attend training sessions, workshops, and seminars concerning Federal and State aid in the Tri-State Area. Initiate requisitions and process purchase orders Other duties as directed. Qualifications Associate Degree and/or high school diploma and equivalent of 2 years of administrative experience required. Basic knowledge of Title IV financial aid programs and the Colleague System preferred. Experience in a college office setting preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with many constituents. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Skill in dealing with a diverse population. Basic computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and email. Understanding of FERPA regulations. Physical Requirements Most of the job is sedentary, however, occasional periods of light work may be required; Lifting up to approximately 35 lbs. occasionally. The worker may be exposed to primarily to inside office conditions. Visual acuity appropriate for an administrative position, Hearing, Grasping, Pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching - occasionally, Climbing stairs - occasionally, Walking, frequently, Occasional travel may be required
