Financial Controller

Job Overview We are on the lookout for a proactive and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our finance team. In this role, you'll oversee all financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight to support our organization's growth. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in accounting principles, financial management, and regulatory standards, all while fostering a collaborative and transparent work environment.

Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Analysis:

Prepare and publish accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements along with supporting schedules; EBITDA Bridges, Customer Profitability, and MD&A commentary.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

Coordinate the preparation of the annual operating budget, financial forecasts, and report on variances, initiating corrective actions as needed.

Accounting Operations Oversight:

Manage all accounting operations, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), general ledger, cost accounting, and inventory accounting. Manage Full-Time GAM, AP, and Part-Time AR staff.

Internal Controls & Compliance:

Develop, document, and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and federal, state, and local legal requirements.

Audit & Risk Management:

Coordinate and lead external audits, acting as the primary liaison, and help identify and mitigate financial risks.

Cash Flow Management:

Monitor and manage daily cash flow (Daily Cash Report), and collections to meet obligations and optimize financial performance and reconcile Intercompany Account with Parent.

Leadership & Team Management:

Supervise, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting teams, clarifying roles and responsibilities to achieve optimal performance.

Strategic Support:

Collaborate with executive management and department heads to provide financial insights and data analysis that support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency improvements.

Requirements Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Master's degree preferred).

Experience:

Proven experience (typically 5-10+ years) in an accounting or financial management role, with experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller. Manufacturing and Cost Accounting experience preferred.

Certifications:

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is highly preferred but not required.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, ERP systems) and advanced Microsoft office, Excel skills (Pivot tables).

Soft Skills:

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management required. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts to non-finance managers. Proven leadership and team management capabilities. • Due to constant sanitation, the environment in the production and warehouse areas is damp and the floors are typically wet and slippery.

• Due to constant sanitation, approved food-grade sanitation chemicals are frequently present in the production environment.

• Eggs, milk, tree nuts, shellfish and peanuts are used as ingredients in our products and are frequently present in the work environment.
• Production equipment and vehicles
• Equipment with moving mechanical parts and/or sharp edges and cooking vessels that operate at very high temperatures are present in the production and warehouse environment and proper safety precautions must be observed.

Forklifts and hand trucks are used extensively to move ingredients and finished products to various locations throughout the work environment and proper safety precautions must be observed.
