Collects comprehensive patient information, including personal details, medical history, and current health status. Verifies insurance coverage and benefits, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Enters patient information into the hospital's electronic health record (EHR) system accurately and efficiently. Coordinates with healthcare providers to ensure all necessary medical documentation is complete and up-to-date. Provides patients and families with clear instructions and information about the admission process and required documentation. Assists patients with completing necessary forms and answering any questions they may have. Collaborates with other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient admission process. Reviews and updates patient records regularly to reflect any changes in health status or insurance information. Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and hospital policies regarding patient information and documentation. Maintains confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Addresses special requirements, such as language barriers or mobility issues, to ensure patient comfort. Resolves discrepancies in patient information or insurance details promptly.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English [Required] Strong written and verbal communication skills [Required] 27 wpm avg net typing speed; proficient with Microsoft Office applications and computers [Required] Multitask proficiently, using multiple computer systems, applications and technology [Required] •May consider and train internal FHZ applicants with little to no experience who have successfully completed 90 days and are considered a role model in their current department [Required] Excellent customer service and satisfaction skills, ensures quality service is delivered to external and internal customers [Required] Understanding of revenue cycle (Registration, Insurance Verification, Coding, Billing) [Required] Understanding of regulatory guidelines such as CMS, EMTALA, HIPAA, The Joint Commission [Required] ICD-10, CPT, medical terminology [Required] Explains hospital charges and payment options and programs; collects monies due at time of service [Required] Consistently meet or exceed established collection goals; must be able to confidently and professionally address the financial responsibility patients may have [Required] Interpret and explain insurance benefits [Required] Detail oriented, demonstrate problem solving skills, flexibility and adapts well to change [Required]Education:
High School Grad or Equiv [Required]Work Experience:
2+ of experience in most, if not all registration and admission types and processes, scheduling, insurance verification; hospital/physician office/collections role/insurance company• [Required] Direct experience in a hospital Admitting department [Preferred] Prior experience with guest service industry particularly with a high-end hotel, airline etc. [Preferred] Prior sales and/or collections experience [Preferred]Physical Requirements:
