Job Description To analyze, research, forecast, and reconcile complex financial documents; ensure compliance with laws, rules, and policies; perform related work. The Financial Technician for the Budget Department serves as the primary steward of the University's position budgeting. Reporting to the Senior Director of Institutional Budget & Planning, within the Division of Finance, this role ensures budget-related personnel actions are accurately represented in the University's budget and finance systems. The Financial Technician is responsible for ensuring that every faculty and staff position is accurately funded, racked, and reconciled within ISU's financial systems. This role is critical for maintaining the integrity of the University's largest expenditure: its people. The ideal candidate is a highly detailed, thrives on precision, is process-oriented, and enjoys high-volume data management. This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered. Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the final reviewer and processing point for all personnel budget updates and adjustments.
  • Initiate and execute position budget changes and labor distribution updates within the Millennium FAST Budget module.
  • Perform rigorous reviews of incoming personnel requests to ensure compliance with University policies, funding availability, and technical accuracy of data.
  • Work closely with HR and departmental managers to ensure accuracy of requests and provide timely feedback.
Minimum Qualifications Some knowledge of financial record keeping.
Experience:
  • Researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports.
  • Using personal computers to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data.
Additional Information ISU minimum for this classification is $17.25/hour, commensurate with education and experience. To be considered for this opportunity, on or before May 31, 2026.
