Fixture Fabricator/ Proto Welder

Precision Laser & MFG is a designer and builder of automotive shipping racks and dump, utility and beavertail semi trailers. A Fixture Builder Welder designs, fabricates, assembles, and repairs specialized devices (jigs and fixtures) that hold metal components in the correct position during manufacturing processes, particularly welding. This role requires a blend of hands-on welding, fabrication, and blueprint interpretation skills to ensure precision and efficiency in production.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Fabricate and assemble specialized jigs and fixtures Construct, alter and repair special tools and templates, fixtures and weld jigs. Read and understand blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to fabricate fixtures according to specific requirements. Weld various lengths, sizes & thicknesses of structural steel to meet design specs Use a variety of tools, including sheet metal fabrication equipment like press brakes and plasma cutters, to cut, shape, and assemble metal stock into a finished fixture. Perform various welding techniques, such as MIG, to join fixture components with precision. Use measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and squares to verify that the finished fixture meets all dimensional and functional specifications. Bench work involving filing, grinding, assembling, and adjusting to obtain satisfactory operations. Troubleshoot and repair existing fixtures to ensure they continue to function correctly. Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

Proficiency with welding processes (e.g., MIG) Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Strong understanding of measurements and tolerances, using tools like calipers and micrometers. Excellent problem-solving and mechanical aptitude skills. Strong attention to detail and precision. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Physical dexterity and strength to handle heavy materials and work in various positions. Strong math skills for calculations and measurements.

$22.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
