  • Devereux Florida provides programs and services for adolescents and adults who face significant emotional, behavioral and intellectual/developmental challenges. Located in Winter Park, FL, this position is responsible for:
  • Providing Personal Care:
  • Assist with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Behavioral Support:
  • Implement behavior management plans and support individuals in developing coping strategies.
  • Skill Development:
  • Facilitate skill-building activities, including social skills, communication, and life skills training.
  • Crisis Intervention
  • : Recognize signs of distress and de-escalate situations effectively and safely.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of client progress, incidents, and daily activities.
  • Transportation:
  • Assist clients with transportation to appointments, community activities, or school.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, nurses, and family members.
  • Training and Education:
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on best practices in behavioral health support.
  • Engagement and Crisis Support:
  • Ensure all staff are actively engaging with individuals and provide assistance during crises when needed.
  • Demonstrates Leadership and Delegates Tasks:
  • Provide clear direction to staff, supervise daily operations, and delegate responsibilities to direct support professionals to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Position Details:
  • Pay Range:
  • Starts at $19.00
  • $22.21 / hr.
  • PLUS
  • additional compensation: Shift differential (up to $2.00 / hour). Relevant experience in field (up to $2.00 / hour). Credit for higher education ($.48/hr for Bachelors degree; $.72 / hr for Masters degree).
  • Schedule:
  • 1st shift (7am-3pm), 2nd shift (2:00pm to 11:00pm), and 3rd shift (10:00pm to 9:00am)

  • Qualifications
  • Education:
  • + High school diploma or equivalent required + Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Social Work preferred
  • Experience:
  • + One (1) year of experience working with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities, or 1 year experience in a medical, psychiatric, nursing or related setting _required_ + Post-Secondary education (i.e., college, vocational or technical training equal to 30 semester hours) may substitute for experience
  • Schedule:
  • + Must be able to complete a 2-week (Monday
  • Friday) new hire orientation class; hours are approximately 9:00am to 5:00pm each day. Orientations are offered in Orlando, FL and Titusville, FL. +
  • Must be able to work holidays.
  • + •Must be able to work one weekend day.
  • Other Requirements:
  • + Successfully pass pre-employment medical screenings which include: Drug Test, Physical, and TB Test.
+ Valid driver's license + Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Must be able to drive a car and a passenger van (which holds up to 15 passengers). + Successfully pass a Level 2 background screening with the State of Florida.
