  • This is a temporary student worker position for the 2026 Summer semester.
Job Description Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists a University Safety Officer as needed in non-violent or non-confrontational circumstances Assists university staff, students, and visitors as needed or requested Completes door unlocks Handles ADA escorts Conducts foot patrols of campus Patrols the interior of buildings, noting discrepancies in fire equipment, electrical fixtures, appliances, rooms that should remain locked but are not, and all other areas involving security or safety Observes any violation of Florida State Statutes and University Regulations, and reports such observations to a University Safety Officer Regularly checks emergency blue light phones for proper operation Assists with events such as Fall Family Festival, Spring Fling, sporting events, celebrations, and Commencement Other duties as assigned
Standards of Expectation:
All of the ethical standards and rules expressed in the training manual are inclusive, and together constitute the standards of conduct by which all employees of the Saint Leo Department of University Safety are to be governed. It shall be the duty of each SST member to study, become familiar with and abide by the rules and regulations governing the organization and operation of the department, as well as the rules governing control and discipline. SST members will abide by all laws, rules, regulations, and policies of the University, the State of Florida and the United States of America. SST members will display respect for their superior officers, subordinates, and associates. While working and in the presence of the public, superior officers shall be addressed or referred to by rank. SST members will address their subordinates, associates, supervisors or members of the general public courteously, and will not use abusive, violent, insulting or provoking language which could be deemed inappropriate to any person or group by reason of their ethnic or racial background. At all times, SST members will be civil and courteous. SST members will maintain an even disposition and remain calm, regardless of provocation, in executing their duties. SST members will not gossip or speak rumors detrimental to the department or another employee. SST members will always display absolute honesty. SST members will cooperate and coordinate their efforts with other employees to ensure maximum effectiveness. This high degree of cooperation and coordination will be extended to other partners and government agencies. SST members will not at any time use or attempt to use their position in the department for personal financial gain or advantage. SST members shall adhere to all Saint Leo University policies: https://emailsaintleo.sharepoint.com/sites/SaintLeoPoliciesLibrary SST members must be enrolled full-time as a junior and senior, and maintain a semester cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Any SST member that does not maintain the required grade point average will be placed on probation for the following semester. If an SST member has second semester cumulative GPA lower than the required 2.5, the SST member will be terminated from the position.
