Job Title:
Diesel Maintenance Technician Job Description This role focuses on performing preventive maintenance and advanced repairs on a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment at the Bainbridge, GA location. You will work with a high degree of independence, using leading-edge diagnostic technology to service diesel engines, air brakes, hydraulics, and alternative fuel systems. The position offers hands-on experience with a wide range of equipment, including light and heavy trucks, automobiles, vans, forklifts, and material handling equipment. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) and repairs on a diverse fleet, including automobiles, light and heavy trucks, vans, forklifts, trailers, and material handling equipment. Work with a high degree of independence while completing scheduled maintenance and unscheduled repairs. Utilize advanced technology and programs such as voice-based PM applications, Noregon diagnostics, Uptake predictive analytics, TAAS, and other diagnostic platforms. Conduct advanced diagnostics across multiple original equipment (OE) platforms, including Volvo, International, Freightliner, Maxon, electric vehicles, and material handling equipment. Perform high-level repairs on engine and driveline systems, after-treatment and emissions systems, and safety systems on class 6-8 diesel vehicles. Adapt, develop, and expand repair and maintenance capabilities for alternative fuel applications such as electric vehicles, compressed natural gas (CNG), and B100. Diagnose vehicle failures, disassemble components, repair or replace parts, and reassemble systems as necessary. Focus primarily on air brake and hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance. Use diagnostic equipment to identify issues in diesel engines, electrical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and braking systems. Perform trailer maintenance and repair, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems and structural components. Maintain accurate documentation and records, including vehicle records, pre-trip checklists, and service reports. Follow safety procedures and guidelines while performing all maintenance and repair activities. Perform required physical tasks such as lifting, bending, reaching, climbing, pinching, and handling tools and components (with or without an accommodation). Essential Skills At least 2+ years of diesel maintenance or repair experience. Hands-on experience working on air brake systems, including diagnostics and repair. Hydraulic system maintenance and repair experience. Trailer maintenance and repair experience, including pneumatics and hydraulics. Ability to troubleshoot diesel engines, electrical systems, air brakes, and trailer systems. Experience performing after-treatment and emissions repairs on class 6-8 diesel vehicles. Experience performing driveline repairs on class 6-8 diesel vehicles. Experience using diagnostic platforms such as Noregon, Snap-on, Nexiq, Altel, or similar tools. Brakes Certification. EPA 609 Certification. Experience or formal training involving hydraulic and air brake systems. Ability to use diagnostic equipment effectively for fault finding and system analysis. Possession of personal basic hand tools suitable for diesel and mechanical repair work. Ability to pass a Forklift Driving Skills test (if applicable). Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with or without an accommodation). Ability to perform physical movements including lifting, pinching, bending, reaching, climbing, and manipulating objects (with or without an accommodation). At least 18 years of age. Additional Skills & Qualifications CDL is a plus but not required; support is available to help obtain this in the future. Experience working with electric vehicles or alternative fuel systems such as CNG and B100. Familiarity with predictive analytics tools such as Uptake and technology-enabled maintenance programs. Comfort working with voice-based PM applications and other high-tech maintenance tools. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation. Capability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality standards. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues. Work Environment This position is based in a shop environment at the Bainbridge, GA location. Standard schedules run Monday through Friday, with shifts such as 4:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. or 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., providing consistent hours and predictable routines. You work primarily indoors in a professional maintenance shop equipped with diagnostic platforms, ergonomic tools, and high-tech equipment provided by the employer. The role involves hands-on mechanical work around diesel vehicles, trailers, forklifts, and material handling equipment, with regular exposure to typical shop conditions such as noise, tools, machinery, and vehicle traffic. Appropriate uniforms, PPE, and work boots are provided or supported, helping maintain a safe and professional work setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bainbridge, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.
