Job Description

The City of Geneva is seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Technician to join our Fleet Division of Public Works. This position performs skilled repairs and maintenance on the City's mechanical fleet, which includes vehicles and equipment. This is a full-time position that is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. If you enjoy working on a variety of specialty vehicles and equipment in a fast-paced and consistent work environment, we invite you to apply! Essential Job Functions Including but not limited to: Repair and maintain City vehicles and equipment including law enforcement vehicles, fire apparatus, dump trucks, commuter vehicles, backhoes, bucket trucks, chippers, trailers, maintenance equipment and others. Repair, rebuild and replace engines, power train components, hydraulic components, brakes, alternators, starters, generators, etc. Perform complex technical diagnoses to various vehicle systems. Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner and prioritize tasks based on urgency. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including completed repairs and parts used. Collaborate with other team members to coordinate maintenance schedules and ensure efficient operations. Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to equipment maintenance. Requirements Associates Degree in Auto and/or Diesel Technology; and, three years' experience as a maintenance technician or similar role. Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job will be considered. CDL Class A must be obtained within six months of hire. Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Special Requirements:
If offered the position, employees must reside within a 16-mile radius of the City of Geneva within one year of employment. Schedule This position primarily works Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overtime/on-call as required based on seniority. Benefits and Salary The starting salary for this position is $31.11 per hour under the current IBEW collective bargaining agreement.
