Position Summary:
The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing the Association's fleet vehicles and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation. This role supports the Public Works team by performing diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs, while also assisting with facility-related tasks as needed. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on all fleet vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Operate and maintain a variety of tools and machinery, including power hand tools and heavy equipment such as backhoes. Support the Roads Maintenance Foreperson by monitoring daily tasks of facilities staff and ensuring proper completion of assignments. Provide hands-on assistance and training to staff in the use of tools, equipment, and maintenance procedures. Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; submit requisitions in accordance with departmental guidelines. Coordinate and perform repairs and upkeep of Association buildings, swimming pools, and recreational facilities. Identify maintenance needs that exceed internal capabilities and recommend coordination with external vendors. Submit requisitions for new equipment and oversee repairs of existing equipment as needed. Ensure all work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards at the end of each workday. Maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills when interacting with residents, staff, and vendors. Follow all safety protocols and Association policies, with special attention to health and safety procedures. Document and report performance issues, safety concerns, and operational inefficiencies to the Roads Maintenance Foreperson. Perform all duties of facilities maintenance workers as needed. Carry out other related duties as assigned to support the overall operations of the Public Works department. Skills and Qualifications Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in basic mechanical diagnostics and repair techniques. Familiarity with maintenance software and inventory systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong time management and organizational abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail and commitment to safety. Physical ability to perform manual labor and operate heavy equipment.Certificates and Licenses Required:
Valid Driver's License Preferred:
Pesticide Certification- Category 24 (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe)
