The Floor Operator at Tyson RVI-Harmony rendering plant is responsible for operating equipment to load feathers into processing machinery safely and efficiently. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Feather Loader Operator will play a vital role in ensuring the continuous flow of feathers through the processing line while adhering to safety and quality standards.Responsibilities:
Operate feather loading equipment, such as conveyors, hoists, and feeders, to transfer feathers from storage bins or containers into processing machinery. Monitor equipment operation and performance, conducting routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure reliability, efficiency, and safety. Coordinate with production and logistics teams to schedule feather loading operations and prioritize production needs based on inventory levels and processing requirements. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. Conduct quality checks on feathers, including visual inspections and sampling, to ensure compliance with specifications and cleanliness standards. Record production data, equipment readings, and process parameters accurately and comprehensively in logbooks and computerized systems. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to report issues, share information, and coordinate activities in the feather loading area. Assist with cleaning and maintenance tasks in the feather loading area, including equipment cleaning, debris removal, and sanitation procedures. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and mechanical issues, performing repairs or adjustments as needed to minimize downtime. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize feather loading processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce waste. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to understand and operate complex machinery and equipment. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety protocols accurately. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and supervisors. Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to support production schedules and operational needs. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures applicable to equipment operation and industrial manufacturing environments. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks as required. A minimum of 3-months continuous experience in Industrial/Manufacturing/ Construction/ Landscaping Environment. A minimum of 6 months continuous work history in the past 2 years. Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 90 days. Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Tyson Foods.
