Looking for an individual with a flair for growing and arranging mostly cut and bulb flowers. Being able to move quickly, think on your feet, and manage your time is very important. Please include cover letter if seriously interested. About the Farm The property includes 30 acres of land, with crop production on about 2 acres. Our mission is to serve our customers high quality, consistent produce and flowers. We believe that our people are our most important asset and are a part of our farm community. The farm uses mostly organic methods of production. We grow year-round for several wholesale restaurant accounts and we operate our own farmstand on the property from May

Our emphasis is on quality, consistency and customer service. We produce a diverse range of vegetables, flowers, fruits, horticulture greenhouse products and value-added products. Our farmstand also sells a limited number of curated local products, including honey, cheeses, and baked goods. Responsibilities Oversee and contribute to cleaning, packaging and quality control Initiate flower portion of the business with a focus on cut flowers Assist with field seeding, transplanting, cultivation, and irrigation Assist with organizing and oversight of farmstand Working and scheduling the harvest/wash/pack system Keeping records on production and helping with on-farm research and development Regularly report to the business owner on the production plan and day-to-day operations Skills Passion and interest for working in small-scale, low-input, flower and herb production Attention to detail, experience building efficient systems and record-keeping Ability to work with a team to reach successful outcomes Ability to manage and operate an electronic point-of-sale system Ability to set one's own schedule and work effectively with minimal supervision Ability to work both independently and as a team member Ability to work in a potentially challenging environment and be adaptable Ability to work in all weather conditions and to lift 50 lbs Punctuality and reliable transportation Outstanding communication (oral and written) skills Willingness share and accept feedback in a team environment Energetic and willing to have fun Long term commitment to the business Qualifications 3-5 years of vegetable and /or flower production or horticulture experience 2-3 years of personnel management experience in retail, food & beverage, or a similar field Tractor, truck and heavy equipment experience Experience building and organizing systems and refine processes in a business environment Ability to work in a dynamic, fluid, and fast-paced environment Satisfactory background check Safe driving record Compensation 20-30 hours per week on average (seasonal variability) Free access to farm-grade/seconds Discounts on 1st quality farm produce & access to wholesale rates of goods Application process Final candidates will be expected to visit the farm in New York for a working interview before hiring.
