With a mission to increase food access while stewarding a marketplace that supports our local farmers and producers, From the Ground Farmers Market Collective brings together farmers, artisans, producers, and community members together in a weekly celebration of local foods. Our Farmer Markets not only offer local, sustainable foods and unique arts and crafts in a colorful, vibrant setting but also are a way to support and promote food access within our communities. With the expansion to seven food access programs and the management of the markets From the Ground Farmers Market Collective is seeking (2) Market Coordinators to champion our programs for the 2026 Season. Throughout the season, the markets host local food producers, artisans, musicians, cooking demonstrations, and celebrations of the hosting neighborhoods. From the Ground manages three markets total; a Tuesday afternoon market (June-Oct.) in Houghton, a Saturday morning market (June-October.) in Calumet and a cold season market in Calumet from mid-October to mid-November. From the Ground Farmers Market Collective is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)3 status. It is directed by a volunteer Board of Directors passionate about supporting local delicious food for all.Hiring Range:
$20 per hour for 20 hours a week for approximately 24 weeksEducational Level :

This is a part time position. It is expected that the Food Access Coordinator will work an average of 20 hours per week with seasonal variation (June 9 - November 21). Weekends and evenings are required.. Candidate must be available to work: Tuesdays and Saturdays (June 9 - November 21, 2026)Job Duties:
As the Food Access Coordinator, your main duty will be supporting the local food assistance programs including cash token system implemented by all From the Ground Markets. However, you will also work in other areas of the market such as morning set up, closing procedures, market signage, social media during the market, and other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. You will have the incredible opportunity to learn about our local food system and locally produced products, as well as various skills in merchandising and customer service. Primary Responsibilities 1. Helping customers with the checkout process (education and facilitation of market tokens) 2. Post-market token accounting, vendor data reconciliation 3. Supporting vendors on the food assistance programs that From the Ground Markets offer. 4. Help set-up and frequently lift, move and carry tents, tables, signage, and other large items weighing up to 50 pounds around the market space. 5. Coordinating onsite programming with local community partners and musicians (food demos, or other activities with local partners) 6. Patrol market spaces for potential trash and customer safety hazards. 7. Clean up and closing assistance. 8. Constantly works in all outdoor weather conditions, as all summer / fall season markets take place outdoors. 9. Collect content for social media during Market hours, create posts and manage social media in coordination with From the Ground social media volunteer(s). 10. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director.Preferred Qualifications:
Passionate about food security and access Organized, punctual, and dedicated Reliable transportation Knowledge of and passion for farmers markets and local food systems Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong prioritization and organizational skills Social Media Experience Electronic applications preferred.
