We pride ourselves on providing high-quality, sustainable meat products to our customers while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality in our manufacturing processes. We are currently seeking a Food Safety Quality Assurance Technician to join our team.
Job Summary:
If you are passionate about food safety and quality, join our Food Safety-Quality Assurance team, auditing our meat processing facility in search of pathogens and contamination and GMP violations. You will be trained not only in how to perform each job, but also in WHY we do them. Your days will be filled with the variety of daily tasks—some physical, some seated, all vital! As part of the Quality Assurance Department, you will interact with all departments at all levels to help maintain and promote our strong culture of food safety and quality. Your enthusiasm and willingness to learn and follow our programs/policies will help keep our product (and the people who eat it) safe and healthy. We are a small group—we work hard, support each other, and take our role seriously.
Essential Functions:

Pre-operational inspections and documentation GMP monitoring Fat testing Cloth/N60 Plus sampling Thermometer calibrations Temperature checks Environmental testing Sanitation checks/mid-shift inspection Carcass swabs Observational record keeping Other sample preparations and SARFs MUST be reliable, timely, and honest with a drive to always "do the right thing" The desire and ability to follow general food safety practices (GMPs, HACCP, and SQF system) Ability to read and follow basic instruction with an eye for detail and desire for accuracy Reasonable computer skills Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment Similar core values: Service, Pride, Integrity and Leadership
JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, science or field related to the meat industry or equivalent experience in Quality Assurance is required
  • Previous experience in any food manufacturing environment preferred
  • HACCP Certification (can be completed once hired)
Language Skills:
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Bilingual skills (English and Spanish or Karen) is preferred
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and understand instructions. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to 40 degree temperature, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Rotation through slaughter floor, frequently exposed to a moving carcass on a rail system, debris and wet floor. Work in acrid odors and sometimes very hot (mainly July & August) conditions.
