Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Food Service Director to lead and oversee all aspects of our dietary and food service operations within an assisted living environment. This pivotal role involves managing the dietary department with enthusiasm, ensuring that residents receive nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to their individual care plans. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, management skills, and a passion for promoting health and wellness through exceptional food service. Duties Lead the planning, preparation, and presentation of meals that meet nutritional standards and adhere to dietary guidelines specific to assisted living residents. Develop and implement care plans that incorporate dietary needs, preferences, and medical requirements such as tube feeding or specialized nutrition. Conduct patient assessments to determine individual nutritional needs and adjust menus accordingly for optimal health outcomes. Manage budgeting responsibilities for the dietary department, ensuring cost-effective procurement of ingredients while maintaining high-quality standards. Oversee compliance with health regulations and safety protocols related to food handling, storage, and sanitation practices. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to perform diagnostic evaluations related to nutrition and physiology, supporting overall resident care plans. Provide health coaching to residents on nutrition, hydration, and lifestyle choices that promote wellness and independence. Monitor the effectiveness of dietary interventions through regular evaluation of care plans and resident feedback. Qualifications Proven experience in dietary management within assisted living or similar healthcare settings. Strong supervisory experience leading culinary or dietary teams with excellent leadership skills. Knowledge of physiology, nutrition science, and dietetics principles essential for developing personalized care plans. Familiarity with patient assessment techniques including tube feeding protocols and diagnostic evaluation processes. Experience managing budgets within a dietary or healthcare environment to optimize resource allocation. Understanding of health regulations related to food safety, sanitation, and compliance standards in healthcare facilities. Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive resident care planning. Excellent communication skills to educate residents on health coaching topics and collaborate effectively with staff members.
