Job Description

The Salvation Army of La Crosse Emergency Shelter provides a safe shelter for families and individuals experiencing homelessness. Every year, hundreds of men, women, and children are provided emergency shelter and fed over 80,000 meals. Community support makes all this possible. Donations of supplies, dollars, and volunteer staffing help ensure the emergency shelter continues serving those in the biggest need. The Food Services Manager will plan and/or prepare and serve all meals for shelter residents and clients of the meal program. Maintain a clean organized kitchen area. Supervise food services staff & volunteers.
About the role:
Prepare nutritionally balance menus for the meal program Prepare and cook meals as needed Ensure that all kitchen staff adhere to food safety requirements regarding sanitation and food preparation (i.e. hairnets, hats, wearing gloves when handling food, etc.) Maintains clean kitchen, pantry, cooler/refrigerator/freezer Ensure proper labeling, rotating, and disposing of food and/or donations Maintain inventory of food products and supplies Ensure all food service equipment properly maintained Submit a supply order, through proper protocols, for all necessary items for meal preparation and kitchen area cleaning Coordinate food pantry program facilitating the transfer of donated food from the warehouse to keep the pantry stocked each day Supervise volunteers, SER National participants, and community service workers assigned to food services Prepare and set-up for any special lunches or snacks for any meetings held by staff within facility as requested by the supervisor and/or
Corps Officers Education:
 High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Compensation:
 $42,898 - $53,623/year, based on experience.
