Job Description

Overview No weekends, no on-call! Work autonomously! Looking for a per diem RN willing to fill in on Mondays every 6-8 weeks so the owner, a fellow nurse, can take some days off with the family. Join our micro but dedicated healthcare team as a Footcare Nurse, where you will play a vital role in providing specialized foot and lower limb care to senior patient populations in facilities. This dynamic position offers the opportunity to utilize your clinical expertise in a supportive environment focused on improving mobility, preventing complications, and enhancing overall quality of life. As a Footcare Nurse, you will deliver comprehensive lower leg, feet, toe and nail assessments and treatments including reducing corns, callouses, and partially in grown to nails. You will provide recommendations for compression as well as footwear as needed. Must be CFCS or willing to become certified. Duties Perform detailed foot and lower limb assessments, including skin integrity, circulation, sensation, and structural alignment. Administer advanced treatments such as wound care, reducing hyperkeratotic tissue and infection control tailored to patient needs. Conduct specialized procedures like toenail trimming, callus removal, and diabetic foot screenings. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans across settings including clinics, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, and home care environments. Educate patients and caregivers on proper foot hygiene, injury prevention, footwear selection, and self-care strategies to promote long-term health. Document all patient interactions accurately using electronic health record (EHR) system while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Assist in triage assessments for urgent foot-related issues and facilitate referrals for surgical or specialist interventions when necessary. Skills Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing with familiarity in wound management and infection control practices. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and common foot conditions including diabetic neuropathy and peripheral vascular disease. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Epic for accurate documentation and patient tracking. Skilled in performing sterile procedures like suturing and catheter care when needed. Ability to assess complex cases involving acute pain management or chronic conditions within diverse healthcare settings. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in geriatrics, including memory care or hospice environments.
