Forklift Operators ($16-$18/hr - Multiple shifts open) Job Description This contract-to-hire Forklift Operator role supports a busy warehouse that stores and distributes agricultural seed products during peak season and beyond. You will operate a sit-down forklift to move, load, and unload palletized goods, use RF scanning equipment and basic computer functions to track inventory, and assist with general warehouse tasks. Successful performers have the opportunity to transition to a direct hire role with full benefits and long-term growth based on performance. Responsibilities Operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Load and unload semi-trailers with palletized product using a forklift and other material handling equipment. Use an RF scan gun to accurately track, scan, and record inventory movements. Palletize product and ensure loads are stable, secure, and properly wrapped or stacked. Re-stack bags weighing up to 60 pounds as needed to maintain safe and organized pallets. Perform general warehouse duties, including organizing materials, staging product, and maintaining clean and orderly work areas. Handle material using pallet jacks, reach trucks, and other warehouse equipment as required. Operate forklifts in tight and confined spaces while maintaining a high level of safety and awareness of surroundings. Follow all warehouse safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment. Complete basic paperwork and data entry related to shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily productivity and accuracy goals. Support additional tasks and duties as assigned to keep operations running smoothly. Essential Skills At least 6 months of recent sit-down forklift operating experience. Proven ability to operate a forklift safely in tight spaces and a fast-paced warehouse environment. Experience using RF scanners for inventory tracking and product identification. Ability to lift and move up to 45 pounds regularly and re-stack heavier bags as needed. Basic computer skills to complete simple data entry and inventory-related tasks. Previous experience in a warehouse, material handling, or picking role. Familiarity with palletizing and depalletizing product for storage and shipment. Ability to follow safety procedures and use required protective equipment. Reliable attendance and the flexibility to work some Saturdays as part of the regular schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating additional warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and reach trucks. Experience in material handling, shipping, receiving, or order picking. Comfort working in a large, fast-paced warehouse environment. Strong attention to detail when scanning, labeling, and handling inventory. Ability to work both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team. Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities to support warehouse operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Falls, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
