Their duties include Operating Forklift Collecting order notes to fulfill deliveries Picking out ordered items from storage shelves or rooms using barcodes, serial numbers, etc. Securely strap, shrink-wrapping items before shipping Operating handling equipment according to industrial safety regulations Securely Loading outbound shipments Updating stock inventory after each item is retrieved Performing general warehouse duties as necessary Order Picker Skills and Qualifications To be qualified for the role of Order Picker in a warehouse or storage facility, you'd need to have the following skills: Ability to use a radio frequency or barcode scanner Ability to work in a fast-paced environment for long hours Great physical strength to lift 70Lbs. Excellent attention to detail Excellent communication skills Requirements Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and order picking procedures. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and materials handling. Mechanical aptitude with basic repair skills for forklift maintenance. Ability to perform basic math calculations related to weights, measurements, and inventory counts. Previous experience in shipping & receiving or warehouse distribution is highly desirable. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Valid forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification upon hire. Physical capability for heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or operating machinery.
