Forklift Operator/General Laborer 2100 21st Street South, Clinton, IA 52732 $17

  • Full-time SUMMARY Under the direction of the Operations Manager and/or the On-Site Lead Person, the Warehouse General Labor/Forklift Operator is responsible for the transfer of product from the original container to a container for used for transporting product to the customer; such as, bags to totes, totes to hopper, hopper to trailer.
Housekeeping is performed to maintain a high level of sanitation to meet customer requirements. Other duties are performed as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to determine product / material needed to complete the order. Stage product for transfer. Operate a stand-up lift to dump product from totes to the hopper. Transfers 2,200 pounds of product into hopper to load into pneumatic tank. Clean the bag filters on the dust collector. Empty the drum for the dust collector. Use compressed air, vacuum and broom to maintain the 'Clean' Room. Operate the Baler for packaging plastic film from totes. Assemble boxes for packaging plastic pellets.
Load / Unload
50 pound bags of product to / from rail car shipping containers. Complete initial Forklift Operation training and be evaluated on each model lift truck they will be required to operate and any attachments used with the lift truck. An evaluation of each industrial lift truck operator must occur at least once every three years. Performs a pre-operational daily inspection on the fork lift they will be using and submits a written report to the lead person. Reports all needed repairs to supervision. Perform general warehouse procedures. Maintains high level of sanitation with practicing clean as you go method. Adhere to GMP (General Manufacturing Practices) training. Regular attendance and timeliness are an expectation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Continued): Report to dispatch for daily work assignments. Oversee temporary help, and summer workers, by keeping them busy and on task. Look out for and report any safety concerns.
Seasonal tasks:
clean gutters, spray weeks, shovel snow, salt walkways, etc. Help at dispatch warehouse and truck wash as need. Job assignments / hours are subject to change to meet business and customer demands. Must be able to work any shift, overtime, and weekends as needed. Performs all job duties in a safe manner, abiding by all company and customer safety policies and procedures. Additional daily duties as assigned by on-site lead person / manager.
Blue warehouse functions and housekeeping:
Forklift operation Inventory pallets, gaylords, bales, etc. Packaging plastic Process dog/cat food/treat fines Loading/unloading trailers Baling plastic film Process bulk plastic overloads and heels
Rail Yard:
Load railcars to semi-trucks Scale loads at Kwik Star with outside carriers Pull samples from railcar Set up hose for bulk drivers to unload into railcar Maintain weeds and clean along tracks and clean pits for rail to track Daily railcar inventory for dispatch Remove, derail, and coordinate with railroad to bring in and pull railcars out of the yard
QUALIFICATIONS

Must be willing and able to work in a team environment. Must obtain a Clausen Supply Company forklift license. Language Skills Possess the ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; to complete daily inspection sheets, to complete daily tracking sheets, to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. Reasoning Ability Worker has the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instruction; and to deal with problems that involve a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Safely lift 40 lbs. overhead on an occasional basis. Sit consistently for 3 hours at a time. Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, climb a ladder, push and pull, climb stairs, and work at heights The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Good hand strengths that do not have population normative deficits. Good balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Lifting limits are determined by National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Standards. Occasional means up to 33% of workday. Grip strengths are determined by Mathowitz strength analysis.
