Job Description
The Town of Cape Elizabeth Department of Community Services seeks applicants for a Park Greeter. Fort Williams Park is located at 1000 Shore Road and welcomes approximately 700,000 visitors annually. The 90-acre park is open year-round from sunrise to sunset. Amenities within the park include Portland Head Light Museum & Gift Shop (Memorial Day through Columbus Day), historic sites, athletic fields, children's play areas, a beach, walking trails, picnic tables, charcoal grills, tennis and pickleball courts, off-leash dog walking area, pond, portable toilets, and seasonal vendors. To be a successful Fort Williams Park Ranger, you should be passionate about environmental conservation, encourage proper and appropriate use of park property, promote compliance with rules and regulations, and enhance visitor experience. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, and possess excellent communication skills, strong leadership skills, and a love of the outdoors.
Responsibilities will include:
checking and clearing debris from walkways/paths, performing routine park maintenance, preparing rental sites for visitors, greeting and explaining the park rules and safety regulations to visitors, and monitoring the rental and ceremony sites to ensure the rules are being followed and neither the natural environment nor other guests are being disrupted. Physical fitness to work outdoors. A willingness to help people and conservation efforts. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. The ability to work effectively in a team environment. Initiative, self-motivation, and good judgment Any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
