Job Description
The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.
Summary This position is responsible for the operation, sanitation, troubleshooting, and repairing all processing equipment from blanching through frying and related systems. The Fryer Operator has primary responsibility for product quality regarding operating and controlling a variety of equipment to support providing in-grade product to line flow on all production lines.
Key Responsibilities Maintain Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs. Identify and document product that is out of specification and make necessary adjustments to the process line. Perform and record required quality checks and sampling and ensure they are conducted in compliance with established procedures and specifications in a timely manner. Create work orders for equipment needing work during downtime or is not operating correctly. Demonstrate the ability to work with maintenance to perform preventative maintenance. Ability to demonstrate an understanding of running processing equipment. Ability to operate the oil system safely and correctly to maintain proper filtration and oil quality. Ability to perform daily cleaning tasks and major cleanup cleaning duties in a timely manner and maintain work area in accordance with food safety, chemical safety, and proper cleaning techniques. Ensure that additional accountabilities as may be required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational and Divisional standards. Will assist in training other plant personnel. Typical Education Relevant Experience Qualifications One year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must demonstrate qualification through a job skill evaluation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, conversion of fractions, decimals, and percentages, and basic mechanical principles). Incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid equipment operator's license with a Lift Truck and platform/Scissor Lift endorsement within 30 days of starting the bid. Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in a manner to successfully perform the job duties. Must have basic computer skills. Must be able to accurately measure weights and volumes. Must be able to work in extreme environments: hot or cold temperatures and wet and slick floors. Must have manual dexterity in both hands. Must be able work with, and around, hazardous chemicals wearing appropriate PPE (full wetsuit, boots, chemicals gloves and face shield).
