Position Overview:
Paoli Jr.-Sr. High School is seeking a motivated and student-centered Agriculture Teacher / FFA Advisor who is passionate about agricultural education, student leadership, and experiential learning. This position will primarily focus on Plant and Soil Science pathways, while also teaching Intro to Agriculture courses and supporting the continued growth of our Agriculture and FFA programs. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a willingness to engage students both inside and outside the classroom. This role is integral to preparing students for college, careers, leadership opportunities, and life through agricultural education and FFA involvement. The selected candidate will serve as an FFA advisor and help lead students in contests, events, leadership development activities, and community-based experiences throughout the year. The ideal candidate will embrace a team-oriented approach, working collaboratively with colleagues, administration, students, families, and community partners to continue building an outstanding Agriculture program at Paoli Jr.-Sr. High School.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver an engaging Agriculture curriculum aligned with Indiana Academic Standards Teach Plant and Soil Science courses along with Intro to Agriculture classes Serve as an active FFA Advisor, supporting student leadership development and participation in FFA events and competitions Utilize hands-on, project-based, and experiential learning opportunities Create a classroom environment that promotes leadership, responsibility, collaboration, and innovation Build strong relationships with students, families, local agricultural businesses, and community partners Monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback to support growth Collaborate with the Agriculture department staff and school personnel to enhance student opportunities Support Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs) and student career exploration Actively contribute to school initiatives, community engagement, and extracurricular activities Promote and expand student involvement within the Agriculture and FFA programs
Qualifications:
Valid Indiana teaching license in Agriculture Education (or ability to obtain) Knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards for Agriculture Education Ability to pass required background checks pursuant to Indiana law Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and families Strong classroom management and organizational skills Passion for agricultural education, student leadership, and experiential learning Willingness to contribute to extracurricular programs and student activities Desire to innovate, grow programs, and create meaningful opportunities for students Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills How to
