Job Description
Full Time - Off Campus Courier The Blinn College District is searching for a Full Time - Off Campus Courier at our Brenham Campus. Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below: Job Summary To transport College intercampus mail, parcels, library textbooks, business documents and food supplies on a routine basis to Sealy, Schulenburg, Bryan and RELLIS campus(s) on a set schedule. Principal Accountabilities Responsible in collecting and delivering intercampus mail, parcels, textbooks, business documents, food supplies, etc. on a routine basis to Bryan, RELLIS, Schulenburg, and Sealy. Perform vehicle maintenance on off-campus courier van. Responsible for maintaining a parcel distribution log sheet for incoming and outbound parcels for proper signature from campus to campus. Assists the receiving clerk and maintenance deliveries helper with campus deliveries for small freight, special orders, shipping packages, distributing interdepartmental mail, and office supplies campus wide. Exercise good judgement in protecting and securing Blinn College property with in the area of responsibility. Participates in safety programs designed to provide a safe work environment. Perform and serve as a backup source to the receiving clerk and maintenance deliveries helper Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications Ability to bend, stoop, and lift fifty-five (55) pounds on a routine basis, average physical strength is required for lifting heavy objects. High School Diploma or GED equivalent Current Texas Driver's license or ability to obtain one, meet criteria to drive on behalf of the college. Ability to operate forklift and pallet jack. Basic computer skills required, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook. Minimum Competencies Must be punctual, have good time management and sense of urgency when needed. Outstanding customer service skills. Ability to keep information confidential. Strong organizational skills. Ability to read, write and have strong communication skills to interact with co-workers, supervisors, and internal /external customers. Ability to work with people of diverse personalities, education, and cultural background. Ability to work within a team environment professionally that is supportive of the Physical Plant objectives. Must be self-motivated and able to perform duties and assignments willingly and unsupervised. Knowledge and skill to repair small appliances and equipment. Preferred Qualifications Driving record reflective of less then ten (10) penalty points within the last three (3) years Preferred Competencies Special Notes To Applicants 1. Required to work outside in all types of weather 2. Should be well organized and able to prioritize work; able independently without close supervision. 3. Some overtime is required and vacation approval may be limited during peak activity periods 4. Knowledge of safety procedures related to hazardous chemicals 5. Must be self-motivated, get along with others, and be able to perform duties and assignments willingly and unsupervised. Blinn College pays 100% of health insurance for full-time employees, 50% for dependents, and two times your annual salary in life insurance benefits. Optional coverage can begin on your first active duty date.
