Clarificion from the agency Open to Office of Chief Counsel employees only Duties Help As a General Attorney-Special Counsel (Criminal Tax), you will: Serve as a Special Counsel and resident subject mter expert and instructor on criminal tax law topics for courses presented the Nional Criminal Investigion Training Academy (Academy) and work closely with the Academy Director, who has overall responsibility for the development and instruction of the Tax-Criminal Investigion (CI) program for Internal Revenue Special Agents the Academy. Act as a liaison with the Division Counsel /Associe Chief Counsel to convey management views and concerns and to stay abreast of current developments, policies, and procedures the Academy and with the Office of Chief Counsel. Instruct classes involving law, reled procedural and policy issues, in furtherance of the training objectives of the Academy. Research complex issues and trends and determines likely legal ramificions on Criminal Investigion /Criminal Tax programs. Ensure th the legal or administrive consequences of potential actions to handle these issues are fully considered and writes decision papers to determine Counsel's position on these mters. Evalue functional developments, program objectives, legislive actions, technical rulings, and court decisions, and recommends changes to existing training programs. Handle and perform technical review of some of the Office's most complex, important, or novel assignments, particularly those with broad, or potentially controversial ramificions.
