Job Description

The General Foreman must have experience managing onsite construction workers, subcontractors, and equipment in heavy industrial civil construction. The General Foreman enforces the company's direction, policies, procedures, and safety standards while meeting project deadlines. Must understand all safety hazards related to the work and oversee the safe and effective operation of work-related tools and equipment. Will be required to work in an industrial facility on construction jobsite setting. Responsibilities Proactive in all areas of safety and recognize potential safety issues/hazards Leads and manages skilled labor and work crews engaged in all project activities Supervises work crews to best utilize manpower and materials, exercises discipline to prevent absenteeism, unsafe work practices, and idleness Optimize resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) to ensure efficient and timely completion of the work Ensure work crews are properly supplied with tools, equipment, and materials Demonstrate good organizational skills and follow/enforce policies, procedures, and work practices Give instructions to the workforce in an efficient and effective way Ensure proper pouring, finishing, and curing techniques meet project specifications Oversee the leveling, smoothing, and shaping of concrete surfaces Place, finish, protect, and repair concrete for projects Place and spread concrete using various tools and level/float the surface per project specifications Pouring walls up to 20' tall Inspect completed work to ensure proper installation Understand the purpose and proper technique for vibrating concrete Experience and Qualifications Must have a valid TWIC card or receipt confirming application Minimum of 2 years' experience in a foreman role and 5+ years' heavy industrial civil construction experience Must be efficient in plan reading and construction processes to effectively perform all job responsibilities Physical Must be able to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs., but may occasionally push/pull, lift, or carry up to 100 lbs. Subject to repetitive use of hands/arms, and legs Hand/eye coordination Must be able to communicate (hear, comprehend, and speak) to safely perform work Will need to be able to perform sedentary to heavy work May operate hand and power tools (electric, gas, and pneumatic) of all types Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis Position may require prolonged bending/twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, reaching overhead, squatting, pushing /pulling, or standing and lifting Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etc. May be required to work in confined spaces Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.) Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management/supervision Reading and writing comprehension is necessary for giving and receiving directions to perform work and/or safety policy Ability to use math/complete calculations Work at various tempos, and concentrate amid distractions Decision making skills necessary Detail-oriented; must be able to remember, examine, and observe details Work Environment The job will primarily be on or around construction/turnaround sites in petrochemical operational units and include possible hazardous environments such as confined spaces and working at heights. Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, irritants and smoke may occur. Special Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be necessary to control some hazardous environments. Additional forms of PPE may be required depending on the particular project. Safety requirements must be verified and meet standards set forth by client permits, policies and procedures, and be performed in compliance with all federal, state and local laws or ordinances before work activities can begin.
