Job Description

Job Title:
General Laborer Job Description This role involves performing a wide range of general labor and cleaning tasks in a heavy industrial environment. You will handle debris cleanup, sweeping, shoveling, and various building maintenance activities while working both independently and as part of a team. The position supports multiple departments and requires flexibility, a strong work ethic, and comfort with getting dirty and taking on whatever tasks are needed. Responsibilities Perform general labor duties including cleaning up debris, sweeping, shoveling, and other assigned tasks in a heavy industrial setting. Carry out cleaning activities using tools such as shop vacuums, brooms, and shovels to maintain a safe and orderly work area. Support special projects as needed, including painting, putting up signage, and performing general building maintenance tasks. Work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively as part of a team. In the Minerals Department, perform extensive cleaning tasks, use a shop vac, and climb ladders to clean elevated areas, ensuring comfort with working at heights. In the Pressing Department, assist with cleaning, sweeping, shoveling, and supporting machine operation as directed by the team. Operate a forklift in applicable departments to move materials and support production and maintenance activities, where required. Assist the maintenance team when machines go down by helping with cleanup, material handling, and other support tasks as directed. In the Quarry Department, work outdoors performing shoveling, debris cleanup, and other labor tasks around shaker machines and related equipment. Use forklifts in the Quarry Department and, if applicable, train on heavy equipment such as skid loaders and heavy forklifts under supervision. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in a heavy industrial environment. Demonstrate a positive attitude toward all assigned tasks and complete work without unnecessary complaints. Essential Skills Willingness to perform general labor and cleaning tasks in a heavy industrial environment. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including sweeping, shoveling, lifting, and working in dirty conditions. Comfort working both independently and as part of a team across multiple departments. Comfort working at heights, including climbing ladders and performing cleaning tasks in elevated areas in applicable departments. Forklift experience for roles in departments where forklift operation is required, particularly in the Pressing and Quarry Departments. Good work history demonstrating reliability and consistent performance. Strong reliability and punctuality, with the ability to maintain regular attendance on assigned shifts. Ability to understand assigned tasks and carry them out without resistance or frequent complaints. Basic familiarity with general labor tasks such as cleaning, painting, and simple maintenance activities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous forklift certification or training is preferred, especially for the Pressing and Quarry Departments. Previous machine operator experience is preferred for the Pressing Department but not required. Experience operating heavy equipment, such as skid loaders or heavy forklifts, is preferred for the Quarry Department and may lead to on-the-job training. Experience with painting, signage installation, or building maintenance is an asset. Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to move between departments and support various projects as needed. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of West York, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.50 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
