Job Title:
General Laborer - Brick Manufacturing in Cheswick, PA Job Description This daylight, Monday-Friday role supports all aspects of brick manufacturing through repetitive general labor tasks on the production floor. You will primarily work at a fixed station, unloading brick from kiln carts and stacking it onto a monorail system, while also assisting with mixing materials, maintaining equipment, and monitoring product quality in a fast-paced industrial environment. Responsibilities Perform repetitive general labor by removing brick from kiln carts and stacking it on the monorail in a consistent, efficient manner. Stand in a designated work area for extended periods while safely lifting, moving, and positioning brick throughout the shift. Assist in all brick manufacturing operations as directed, supporting production flow and meeting daily output goals. Mix sands for sand applications, and set up, operate, and maintain sand application equipment to ensure proper coverage and consistency. Mix slurry for slurry applications, and set up, operate, and maintain all aspects of slurry application systems. Clean, maintain, install, and adjust dies, heads, and cutting blades to support smooth and accurate production. Monitor the quality of brick being produced, identify defects or irregularities, and take appropriate action or escalate issues to maintain standards. Track production schedules and ensure paints and sands are prepared and available for timely changeovers. Maintain all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and inventory tracking documents accurately and in a timely manner. Observe equipment during operation, report any issues, and assist with equipment maintenance and repairs as directed by supervision or maintenance personnel. Use hand and power tools safely for basic tasks such as adjustments, minor repairs, and material handling. Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area. Essential Skills Ability to perform repetitive general labor tasks while standing in one area for extended periods. Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding, with the ability to learn how production equipment operates. Attention to detail to monitor brick quality and follow precise mixing and application instructions. Willingness to learn, take direction, and follow established standard operating procedures. Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred. Comfort using hand tools and power tools in an industrial environment. Ability to assist with cleaning, maintaining, and adjusting dies, heads, and cutting blades. Capability to track schedules and maintain basic inventory and production documentation. Reliability and consistency in attendance and work performance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Production or general labor experience in a manufacturing, construction, or similar industrial setting. Experience with bricklaying or working with masonry products is a plus. Experience using hand and power tools for tasks such as carpentry, construction, or basic repairs. Exposure to welding, blueprint reading, pneumatics, repair, or preventive maintenance is beneficial. Mechanical inclination with interest in developing toward machine operator or mechanic roles over time. Ability to follow safety procedures and work effectively in a team-based production environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a daylight position, typically Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the possibility of additional Saturday shifts during busy periods at the same hours. The role is based in an industrial brick manufacturing facility where you work on or near production lines, kilns, and material handling equipment. The environment involves standing for long periods, repetitive lifting and stacking of brick, and working around machinery, dust, and noise. Steel-toed shoes are required, and safety glasses are provided. The dress code includes steel-toe footwear and long pants appropriate for an industrial setting. No specific certifications or medical clearances are required for this role. You will regularly use hand and power tools and may work near equipment used for sand, slurry, and other material applications, following all safety and operational procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cheswick, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
