  • Howard, SD About Howard Farmers Cooperative Howard Farmers Cooperative (HFCA) is a member-owned agricultural cooperative located in Howard, South Dakota.
HFCA provides grain, feed, fuel, service station, and agronomy inputs and services to its patrons. HFCA is dedicated to creating strong community ties in Miner County and surrounding areas. Position Expectations and Requirements Howard Farmers Cooperative is seeking a General Manager (GM) to lead our farmer-owned cooperative. The GM reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the Cooperative's overall performance, including financial management, operations, leading employees, patron relations, safety, and strategic planning. The successful candidate will lead with integrity and maintain strong community relationships. Preferred to live within the immediate HFCA service area. Responsibilities Provide hands-on leadership across grain, feed, fuel, station and agronomy operations. Execute business strategy and report directly to the Board of Directors. Manage budgets, financial performance, and capital planning. Responsible for grain hedging strategies and execution of a risk management program using exchange-traded futures and options. This includes a thorough understanding of and ability to execute a basis-traded merchandising program. Merchandises grain within policy guidelines established by the Board of Directors. Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. Build and maintain strong relationships with members and customers. Hire, develop, and manage department leaders and staff of 30+ employees. Qualifications 5+ years of leadership experience in agriculture, grain, or agronomy. Strong business and financial management skills. Working knowledge of grain markets and farm supply operations. Proven ability to lead teams and make sound decisions. Ag-related degree preferred, but not required. Be available to work long or irregular hours during peak seasons. What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience. Performance-based incentives.
