Job Title:
General Production Worker Job Description This role works on an assembly line producing garage doors, completing production orders accurately, safely, and on time. You will operate hand and power tools, handle and move materials, and support production flow while cross-training in other entry-level positions to build strong product and process knowledge. Responsibilities Work on an assembly line to produce garage doors according to production orders and quality standards. Complete production orders accurately, safely, and within required timeframes. Operate hand and power tools with proper manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Learn product specifications and develop strong product knowledge to support accurate production and assembly. Cross-train on other entry-level positions within the production area to provide coverage and support overall workflow. Stand and walk throughout the shift, including periodic walking distances of approximately 5-15 feet depending on assigned position. Frequently stoop, bend, walk, carry, and lift door panels and related materials as required by the job task. Lift and stack banded door panels to various levels, independently lifting up to approximately 45 pounds. Work safely with another team member to carry or lift door panels exceeding 45 pounds. Push loaded carts as needed, applying up to approximately 50 pounds of force, and work with another person when greater force is required. Perform reporting and clerical duties using a computer and/or tablet to support production, inventory, and scheduling activities. Follow all safety-conscious practices and procedures while operating tools, equipment, and handling materials. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, both orally and in writing, to coordinate tasks and resolve issues. Apply organizational, time management, and analytical skills to support production planning, scheduling, and inventory-related tasks. Obtain and maintain a forklift license and certification within the required timeframe, and operate material handling equipment safely once certified. Essential Skills Manual dexterity and strong hand-eye coordination for safe and accurate operation of hand and power tools. Ability to learn product details and production processes and apply this knowledge on the assembly line. Mechanical inclination and competence to operate power tools and basic production equipment safely. Ability to stand for extended periods and walk periodically throughout the shift. Ability to frequently stoop, bend, walk, carry, and lift materials, including lifting and stacking door panels up to approximately 45-50 pounds. Capability to work with another team member to safely carry or lift heavier panels and materials. Ability to push and occasionally pull loaded carts, including applying up to approximately 50 pounds of force, and to team-lift or team-push when higher forces are required. Ability to perform reporting and clerical tasks using a computer and/or tablet. Effective oral and written communication skills. Efficient and productive organizational, time management, and analytical skills. Mechanical competence and consistent use of safety-conscious work practices. Knowledge and experience in manufacturing and inventory management. Ability and willingness to obtain a forklift license and certification within 45 days of hire. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with production planning, production scheduling, and schedule planning. Familiarity with inventory processes, including data entry related to inventory and production. Comfort using basic computer systems and software for data entry and reporting. Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when completing production and inventory tasks. Why Work Here? The work involves operating hand and power tools, pushing and pulling loaded carts, and handling banded door panels on an assembly line. You will use computers and tablets for reporting, data entry, and inventory-related tasks. Safety-conscious practices are emphasized, and appropriate training is provided for tasks such as cart handling and forklift operation. The environment is production-oriented, with a focus on meeting schedules, maintaining quality standards, and working collaboratively with other team members. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lawrence, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
