Job Description

A Geotechnical Apprentice is an entry-level to mid-level field professional responsible for supporting there operation and maintenance of a drilling rigs used to collect subsurface soil and rock samples. This role is highly physical, involving manual labor in various outdoor environments to ensure that geotechnical investigations for construction and infrastructure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
Rig Support & Setup :
Help mobilize, set up, and dismantle drilling rigs and support equipment at job sites.
Material Handling :
Move, load, and unload heavy drill rods, casing, and supplies weighing between 50 to 100 lbs.
Drilling Operations :
Assist the driller in specific techniques like auger , mud rotary , or rock coring to extract core samples.
Maintenance & Housekeeping :
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on rigs and support vehicles to ensure they meet safety standards.
Site Safety :
Help set up traffic control zones and strictly follow OSHA safety protocols to mitigate hazards.
Sample Management :
Assist in collecting, labeling, and packaging soil and rock samples for laboratory analysis
Physical Stamina :
Must be able to stand for long periods and repeatedly lift heavy equipment (up to 100 lbs) in extreme weather conditions.
Driving License :
A valid driver's license is required.
Mechanical Aptitude :
Ability to operate and troubleshoot hand tools and heavy machinery.
