Summary Durand Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to coach the Girls' 7th Grade Basketball team for the upcoming seasonal program. The ideal candidate will foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship among young athletes. This role requires a commitment to the growth and development of student-athletes both on and off the court. Responsibilities Plan and conduct daily practices that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies. Develop and implement game plans and strategies for competitive games. Organize and supervise team activities, including practices, games, and team meetings. Provide instruction on basketball fundamentals, including shooting, passing, dribbling, and defense. Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and sportsmanship. Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team policies, schedules, and expectations. Monitor the academic performance and behavior of team members to ensure they meet school and team standards. Attend all scheduled games and practices, as well as any required meetings or events. Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement. Ensure the safety and well-being of all players during practices and games. Requirements Previous coaching experience or a strong background in basketball, preferably at the middle school level or higher. Knowledge of the rules and strategies of basketball. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes. First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
