Golf Assistant Superintendent

Assist in the management of course maintenance, turf and equipment maintenance, driving range and turf farm maintenance, developing and retaining employees and meeting or exceeding course quality expectations. The Superintendent develops and administers the budget to properly maintain the course and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with construction manager as part of irrigation instillation, seeding and grow in period. Supervise the maintenance and repair of construction/maintenance equipment. Render professional advice, opinions, assistance and service to immediate supervisor. Participate in all long-range planning meetings. Responsible for managing and maintaining all golf course properties including: Golf Course Maintenance equipment Golf Cars Clubhouse grounds and landscaping Sod farm and nursery Any other properties assigned in writing by immediate supervisor Interview, hire, train, supervise and, if necessary, terminate employees for the purpose of maintaining the golf course and all related properties. Oversee scheduling and directing personnel to accomplish assigned work. Inspect the golf course and related areas to ensure achievement of standards. Effect changes in management programs as needed. Oversee equipment maintenance programs. Maintain accurate and complete records on payroll, inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, etc. Ensure safety of all staff and guests including maintaining appropriate records. Communicate regularly with management to discuss goals, plans and customer input. Other duties as assigned and/or required to perform the necessary responsibilities of the position.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Two (2) year college degree (associates degree) related to turf management or agronomy or at least five (5) years of verifiable experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent at an established golf course. Licensed with a current state certification to apply pesticide/chemical applications is required
Experience:
At least five (5) years of experience as golf course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent. Grow in and construction experience desired but not required.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of agronomy and turf grass management practices; knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations.
Skills & Abilities:
Skills in operating all tools and equipment required to fulfill job responsibilities; high degree of administrative and executive ability specifically in problem solving and decision making; ability to work effectively with wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; strong interpersonal and oral and written communications skills; skills in budget preparation and fiscal management; ability to foster a cooperative work environment; ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays and be on call; ability to organize resources and establish priorities; ability to participate in continuing educational opportunities such as seminars, workshops, correspondence course, field days and trade shows.

Truck, telephone, personal computer, copy machine and fax machine, golf course related equipment.
