Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Grant Accountant to support grant funding operations and financial oversight in Los Angeles, California. This Long-term Contract position will focus on managing the financial administration of grants, monitoring compliance with sponsor requirements, and partnering with program and finance teams to maintain accurate reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with government grants, fund administration, and grant-related accounting processes in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and review funding opportunities from public agencies, foundations, and other grant-making organizations to support organizational goals.
- Organize and maintain a schedule of grant-related deadlines, including submissions, renewals, financial reporting dates, and compliance milestones.
- Prepare, coordinate, and compile proposal packages, letters of inquiry, and supporting documentation for timely submission.
- Work closely with department leaders and finance partners to build grant budgets, track funding allocations, and support justification of project costs.
- Oversee the post-award financial management of grants by monitoring expenditures, reviewing allowability of costs, and ensuring adherence to sponsor terms.
- Produce interim and final financial reports for funders, combining budget activity, supporting analysis, and required documentation.
- Maintain complete and accurate records for grant agreements, financial activity, correspondence, and reporting history.
- Evaluate grant performance, spending trends, and reporting processes to identify opportunities for stronger compliance and improved funding outcomes. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in grant accounting, grant administration, fund accounting, or a closely related finance role.
- Working knowledge of government grants, fund administration, and grant compliance requirements.
- Experience with budget monitoring, financial reconciliations, and preparation of grant-related financial reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and accounting or grant management systems, including Abila MIP.
- Familiarity with NAV (Net Asset Value) concepts and financial tracking processes is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across finance, leadership, and program teams.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
