Job Description

Greenhouse/Container Production Manager Overall Responsibilities:
Assists daily operations of multiple greenhouses, focusing on plant cultivation, environmental control and team management. Helps manage irrigation, fertilization, and pest control, along with scheduling and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Also assists in overseeing container production line. Candidates should possess an expansive knowledge of plants and crops, and have strong communication skills. They must also proactively develop innovative solutions when encountering any challenges Key Responsibilities •
Crop Management:
Help plan propagation, transplanting, pruning, and harvesting schedules. Manage the growth of diverse plants, including trees, shrubs, flowers and bedding plants. •
Environmental Control:
Utilize technology to regulate greenhouse climate, including temperature, humidity, and lighting, to maximize plant health and yield. •
Production Monitoring:
Maintain logs on crop progress, inventory, and resource use. Monitor plant health and crop development throughout the production cycle and take timely action to address plant stress, nutrient deficiencies, pest pressure, disease risk, and environmental issues. •
Operations & Logistics:
Manage inventory, ensure equipment maintenance, and plan for seasonal changes. •
Team Leadership:
Train and supervise team for tasks such as propagating, planting, pruning, weeding, and cleaning. Qualifications •
Education:
A high school diploma is required. A degree in horticulture, botany, or agriculture is preferred. •
Experience:
Experience in greenhouse management or a horticultural environment is required. •
Skills:
Strong knowledge of horticulture, pest control, and environmental regulations. Fluency in Spanish preferred but not required. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements • Expected hours: Flexible hours. Days and hours of work vary by schedule and season. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays. •
Physical Strength:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work long hours standing or walking. •
Environment:
Frequently working in warm, damp environments, sometimes in greenhouses or buildings that are hot or cold.
Pay:
$46,200.00 - $60,000.00 per year
